In short

The Užupis Art Incubator is the first art incubator in the Baltic States. It’s housed in a one-of-a-kind structure in the central part of the Užupis Republic, where there is constant social and artistic integration and incubation. Užupis has established a constant communication of values. Upon the incubator’s initiative, new structures, such as the Creative Industries Cluster, are developing. The Art Incubator is a permanent centre of artistic and social integration.

Evolving from small informal gatherings of artists to spectacular events for the general public and community celebrations, the incubator has hosted international plein air painting and alternative fashion festivals, as well as numerous exhibitions and concerts.

Brief History

The most important place in one of the most picturesque parts of Vilnius, the Užupis Art Gallery, named after Galera, was established in 1995. The local spirit and the worldview of the artists who made up the core of the institution led to informality being a key feature of this exhibition space. Gradually expanding from a few to a hundred square metres, the gallery has always functioned as an exhibition and working space.
