Senatorių Pasažas’ impressive building ensemble was constructed between the 17th and 19th centuries, though older Gothic vaults can also be found there. The building has served multiple purposes over the centuries, including the house of the royal goldsmith, the Vainai Palace, the Pociejai Palace, and one of the first Lithuanian bookstores owned by Šlapeliai. Centuries ago, the building’s courtyard was used as a passage between Stiklių and Dominikonų streets, which were only separated by a brick wall. Today, the building is open to locals and guests alike, all of whom are invited to enjoy Senatorių Pasažas, a long courtyard lined with shops and restaurants offering organic food and contemporary Lithuanian cuisine.
Senatorių Pasažas is home to two restaurants – Nineteen18 and 14Horses – that cherish the farm-to-table concept.
Get ready to be delighted by innovative flavours! Nineteen18 takes its name from the year Lithuania regained independence and thus symbolises a new start to contemporary Lithuanian cuisine aimed at bringing it to the future. You will be taken on a journey through the region’s rich culinary heritage to a contemporary interpretation of ethnographic themes.
The team is constantly looking to excite your taste buds, and do so by using local produce, foraging for exciting discoveries and preserving delicacies – it’s all a recipe for magic on your plate. The prestigious Scandinavian White Guide restaurant guide awarded Nineteen18 and head chef Matas Paulinas an impressive second place among the country’s top-30 restaurants.
Restaurant manager Benoit Chereque will greet you and immediately make an impression with his Parisian charm. The menu is filled with unexpected twists created by head chef Andrius Kubilius, who uses locally sourced products grown at the Farmers Circle farm. If you’re vegan, you’ll find some amazing choices on the à la carte menu – and to be sure, it’s not just salad. Your food will arrive in striking serveware that combines ancient traditions and modern needs. And get ready, because Saturday mornings are the happiest thanks to the restaurant’s long and lazy brunches.
Visit Senatorių Pasažas to shop for food, get some wine, take a lunch break, or purchase thoughtful gifts to create nice memories.
