In short

Visitors can experience the first surprise just as they enter the museum. As you approach the phone used by the Bank of Lithuania during the inter-war period, it rings unexpectedly and the message "Please pick up the handset" lights up. After raising it, the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania can be heard greeting and inviting visitors to visit the museum.

The Money Museum is interactive, adapted not only to passively view the exhibition but also to actively participate in the cognitive process. The museum is equipped with computer terminals with special programs, specially oriented internet access, thematic, educational and documentary films, games, presentations and virtual expositions.

Visual graphic solutions, artwork integration, various interactive tools, visual, audio and light effects of the Money Museum not only engage the visitors and provide them with knowledge but also to helps them capture, perpetuate, deepen, self-interpret such knowledge and seek answers.

Brief History

The Museum started its activity 16 years ago, and at the end of 2010, it opened its door on the corner of Gediminas avenue and Totorių street. Here, in five halls located on two floors, visitors can become acquainted with the history of world currencies and banking, the currency of Lithuania, the development of banking in our country from the establishment of the first credit unions to the present day. Expositions abound in interactive educational tools, thematic films, and games.
