Vilnius has been selected to host the 37th Annual Congress of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EACTAIC). The Lithuanian capital will welcome around 700 of the world‘s top experts and leaders in the fields of cardiovascular and thoracic anaesthesia for a three-day congress in October 2022.
Professor Robertas Samalavičius from the Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos led the bid for the city, with the support of Go Vilnius, the city’s tourism and business development agency.
“We are delighted to have won the bid to bring the 37th EACTAIC to Vilnius. Undoubtedly, it will be a massive boost for Lithuania‘s anaesthesiologists representing cardiothoracic centres. This large-scale congress will be a great space for experts to engage in discourses, develop new scientific ideas, and forge stronger relationships,” says Prof R. Samalavicius.
“The achievements of our scientists and doctors are recognised worldwide and we are very pleased that the EACTAIC has chosen Vilnius for its leading event. For the city to be awarded this provides some much-needed positive news during an otherwise challenging period,” remarks Go Vilnius Director Inga Romanovskienė.
EACTAIC will be the first major international congress in the fields of cardiovascular and thoracic anaesthesia of this scale to be hosted in Lithuania.
