Vilnius continues to make a name for itself as a rapidly growing startup hub ranking 11th among startup cities in Europe and 1st globally for attracting Tech startups (by Tech Start-up FDI Attraction Index). With 800+ startups operating in the city and more than 14,000 professionals working for them, the sector is a major contributor to the local economy and one that attracts talent from all over the world.
Vilnius shares in the ambitious nature of its startup community and is well-positioned to host and facilitate a range of startup-related events. Last month Vilnius also hosted the biggest annual startup event geared toward cultivating the sector and reinforcing the city’s collaborative spirit. This year’s “Startup Fair. Connect 2022”, which was the tenth edition, brought over 1,500 participants and 200 startups from around the world together for a series of conferences, B2B meetings and a pitch battle. The main event was complemented by a high-level side event “Investor Camp in Vilnius”, exclusively for business angels and VCs.
On 28 June, “Get in the Ring”, a global startup competition active in over 200 cities, is hosting its first event in Lithuania’s capital. The event aims to identify the most promising startups and scale-ups working in the domains of Biotech and Fintech for the opportunity to test, scale and prove their solutions with investors, corporates and governments. The competition takes place at VILNIUS TECH Park Tech Zity - the Baltic Sea Region’s biggest technology hub for startups and other businesses operating within the ICT sector.
