GameOn 2024: Fueling Vilnius' Gaming Revolution

GameOn, a prominent video game culture convention, is set to take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 18-20 October. As the largest gaming industry event in the Baltics, it plays a pivotal role in shaping and cultivating the gaming culture in Vilnius. The convention serves as a vibrant hub where gaming enthusiasts, professionals, and newcomers alike come together to celebrate and contribute to the ever-expanding world of gaming. By providing a platform that connects industry experts with the general public, GameOn is instrumental in raising awareness, educating audiences, and inspiring passion for the gaming industry in Lithuania.

At GameOn, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest advancements in gaming. Whether discovering new games, meeting creators, or exploring career opportunities, the event fosters a sense of community and excitement around gaming. Additionally, it offers critical support to emerging talent, providing startups and indie developers a space to showcase their work and network with potential investors—nurturing the next generation of game creators.

A major highlight this year is the GameDev Conference, which is expected to attract around 300 delegates. This conference will cover essential topics such as game development, IP rights, and the influence of AI on the gaming landscape. By fostering discussions and networking opportunities, the GameDev Conference aims to enhance collaboration within the industry. Attendees can explore the Gameverse, featuring major titles like Farming Simulator, and discover unique creations in the Indie Games Zone. Additional activities include family-friendly games, a cosplay contest, and competitive events like the official Tekken 8 tournament. The event will also feature a GameOn Live concert, highlighting iconic video game music performed by an orchestra and choir.

GameOn's influence is closely tied to the rapid growth of Vilnius’s gaming industry. In recent years, the number of game development companies has risen by 11%, while the workforce in the ecosystem has surged by 98%. According to the Lithuanian Game Developers Association, the total value of the Lithuanian gaming ecosystem has reached €250 million, with projections to approach nearly €1 billion by 2030.

As Vilnius continues to establish itself as a key player in the global gaming market, GameOn remains a driving force behind the city’s cultural and economic growth in this dynamic field.
