IACC 2024 to be held in Vilnius this June

The largest International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) is set to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania from June 18 to 21, 2024, at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO. Drawing around two thousand participants from 140 countries, including state leaders, private and public sector delegates, and civil society figures, the conference will delve into global security threats and integrity issues. 

Lithuania was chosen to host the conference by the IACC Council for its strategic significance in combating corruption since gaining independence over 30 years ago. The 2024 IACC aims to leverage Lithuania's achievements, providing insights on maintaining anti-corruption values, democracy, and freedom globally. 

The conference, hosted by the Government of Lithuania and represented by the Special Investigation Services, carries the theme "Confronting Global Threats: Standing Up for Integrity". It will address challenges to transparency posed by climate change, public sector mistrust, and the rise of populist and kleptocratic regimes. Linas Pernavas, Director of the Special Investigations Service of the Republic of Lithuania, emphasized the opportunity for Lithuania to showcase significant global issues. 

Since its inception in 1983, the IACC has been the world's leading anti-corruption forum, influencing the global political and economic agenda. Notable attendees at past conferences include Anthony J. Blinken, US Secretary of State, Maia Sandu, President of Moldova, and esteemed global leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Hillary Clinton, Kofi Annan, Al Gore, George Soros, and Angel Gurria. 

Recent host countries for the IACC include the USA (2022), South Korea (2020), Denmark (2018), Panama (2016), Malaysia (2015), and Brazil (2012).
