Four Vilnius restaurants awarded MICHELIN stars

The first MICHELIN Guide to Lithuania was revealed at a ceremony in Vilnius on Thursday 13 June 2024 and it was delicious news for the capital city’s own eateries.

Vilnius' thriving culinary scene stepped into the spotlight as four top Vilnius restaurants were each awarded One MICHELIN star. It was a major success for the city’s gastronomy as Nineteen18, Dziaugsmas, Demo and Pas mus were all issued with the much-coveted accolade.

The MICHELIN stars are internationally recognised hallmarks of culinary excellence and all four Vilnius restaurants met the outstanding cooking criteria -  quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavours, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine, and consistency both across the entire menu and over time.

Three other restaurants in Vilnius were also recognised by the prestigious guide. 14 Horses, Le Travi, and Gaspar’s were acknowledged in The Bib Gourmand Award which distinguishes restaurants that offer refined cuisine at an affordable price.

Gastronomy aside, Vilnius is fast becoming a popular destination for lots of reasons. Maybe it's the quirky attractions, cool music festivals, hot air balloon rides, impressive architecture or its super friendly people but food is definitely something visitors can look forward to on a city break.

Lithuania’s food is a feast for the senses and there is no shortage of top places to eat in Vilnius even if your budget doesn’t stretch to MICHELIN starred fine dining establishments. And there’s also fun foodie tours in the city offering visitors a local insight into the city’s culinary style and history.

Food is a great way to experience a new destination and there’s nothing better than lingering over a long lunch or a cosy candlelit dinner to create travel memories.
