Universities

Lithuania is an EU leader in the provision of tertiary education, so you’ll soon discover that there are lots of higher education options available if you’re looking to develop your skills or want to enroll a family member in university or college.
The higher education institutions fall into two types: universities and colleges (non-university higher education institutions). Studies are organized in three cycles: bachelor studies (in universities) or professional bachelor studies (in colleges), post-graduate studies and doctoral studies.

It’s important to note that if you have received your secondary or higher education abroad, you’ll need to receive academic recognition of your foreign qualifications before you can enroll. This recognition will be given if the relevant academic institutions consider that your qualifications generally meet the requirements of comparable qualifications in Lithuania.
